St. Christopher's alum Will Hardy '06 was named head coach of the NBA's Utah Jazz on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

Hardy has been in the NBA since 2010, starting as a video intern with the San Antonio Spurs. He was promoted to the Spurs coaching staff for the 2015-16 season, before moving on to become the lead assistant for the Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics this past season.

"We want a team that's tough and competes every single night," Hardy said in an interview with Jazz media. "There's always room to improve, whether that's individually or as a team, and always trying to find those avenues where we can continue to improve is huge."

Hardy was a star basketball player at St. Christopher's before playing for four years at Williams College. The Ephs reached two Division III tourneys during his career, going 80-31 overall.

Hardy is believed to be only the third Richmond-area native to become a head coach of a major U.S. professional sports team, joining Bobby Ross (NFL) and Johnny Oates (MLB).
