Senior Drew Brown reflects on the experiences he made as part of Ampersand's technical crew.
Drew Brown '21: "
My favorite memories from Saint Christopher’s come from the time I spent working in the theater. I started off acting in Lower and Middle school, and then I transitioned to technical theater in Upper School. One of my favorite memories was working on Ampersand’s fall musical, "The Addams Family," my freshman year. In Ampersand, the week before performances is called tech week, where both the cast and crew stay late to rehearse and finalize the production.
On my first night at tech week, the rehearsal ended at around 7 p.m., and I was already packed up and ready to leave. As I stood up from my chair, I heard the director yell, “From the top!” As the actors took their places again, I knew I was in for the long haul and settled back in at the lighting board.
I was there until 11 p.m. and every night that week, and I loved every minute of it. By the time the show closed that Sunday, I knew I had found my place at Saint Christopher’s, a community of people who loved hard work, having fun and creating something beautiful."
