Third Grade boys solve breakout puzzle inspired by Global Read Aloud book

Boys tested their knowledge of "A Boy Called Bat" to unlock a box containing mystery items.
Third graders recently listened to the book "A Boy Called Bat" as part of the Global Read Aloud program. The story is about a young boy on the autism spectrum who befriends a skunk that his mother—a veterinarian—brings home to care for until she can hand him over to a wild animal shelter.

This week the boys participated in a breakout acitivity to test their knowledge of the book. Boys had to solve a series of puzzles related to skunks in order to unlock a box and find out what mysterious items it contained.

Once the boys succesfully solved the puzzles, Mrs. Whitehurst gathered them around to open the box. Watch the video to find out what was in it!

Global Read Aloud was created in 2010 with a simple goal in mind; one book to connect the world. From its humble beginnings, the GRA has grown to make a truly global connection with more than 4,000,000 students have participated. More information is available on the Global Read Aloud website.
