Catcher Nick Biddison '18 was named the All-Metro baseball player of the year Thursday, June 28. Biddison, also the state VISAA and Prep League player of the year, batted .473 with eight homers, nine doubles, 34 runs and 22 RBI from his leadoff spot. His arm behind the plate was lethal, throwing out six of 14 runners who tried to steal on him.
He'll play at Virginia Tech next season.
StC's top two pitchers, Maddison Furman '18 and Patrick Routsis '19, were also honored.
Furman, a VCU pledge, was named to the first team after going 9-1 on the mound with a .123 ERA. Routsis didn't accumlate a loss on the mound, coming into his own after only being a part-time pitcher as a sophomore. He's now also a Division I prospect.
Nick Biddison '18 threw out six of 14 base stealers. The number of attempted stealers is even more impressive, as he caught 155 innings. Rarely did anyone want to test his huge arm.
Maddison Furman '18 struck out 77 batters in 57 innings.
Patrick Routsis '19 went unbeaten on the mound in his junior season, winning two of three state tournament games.
