Hogan '19 chooses UT

Swimming sensation picks Tennessee Volunteers.
Swimming star Sean Hogan '19 has ended his recruitment, committing to the University of Tennessee recently.

Hogan led the Saints to the Prep League and state VISAA titles as a sophomore in 2017. He was named the Swimmer of the Meet at states after winning the 200-yard IM and 100 backstroke with All-American times. He's also a strong relay cog, as he helped the Saints win the 4x100 freestyle and 4x50 medley.

"The University of Tennessee is lucky to get such a talented, determined athlete," coach Stuart Ferguson said. "Sean is a tremendous swimmer who has had plenty of individual success, but he is most valuable for his ability to perform under pressure and on relays.  He is a team player who loves to perform on the big stage."

Hogan, a second-team All-Metro pick in the 400 IM in 2017, also considered N.C. State and Michigan, where former Saints star Charlie Swanson '16 shines, but his heart rests in Knoxville.

"I really like the people there and the faciliites that they have for the swimmers and other athletes," Hogan said. "And they just have a really good team dynamic going on there."
