The outdoor track and field team finished third in the state VISAA Division I meet Saturday at Sports Backers Stadium.
The 4x400-meter team defended its state crown with a new member, Whit Sprinkle '17. He filled in for an injured J. Hunter Dabney '16 and the team didn't miss a beat, as seniors Jack Workman, Joey Cuevas and Brandon Thomas finished off the race in 3:27.45.
Thomas saved his legs only running the 400 individually. He won in 49.59. Cuevas placed second in the 800, followed by Workman.
Tazle Sumpter '16 won the discus in 149-6 1/2 and was second in the shot put (51-7 1/4), and Allan Pedin '17 went 14-0 for the pole vault title with Harrison Rice '18 second, as the Saints fared well in field events.
