Basketball suffers first Prep League loss

FUMA shoots 52% in victory.
The varsity basketball team trailed by as many as 11 points before its comeback attempt fell short, falling to Fork Union Military Academy 80-78 on the road Wednesday.

The Saints were down 10 points with less than two minutes remaining and tied the game on an Alexander Petrie '17 three-point play with 33 seconds to go.

FUMA's Carl Trice scored on a layup with 2.6 seconds left to give FUMA the lead. After a timeout was called, Petrie's 3-point heave missed at the buzzer.

StC was led by Nick Sherod '16, who poured in a game-high 42 points and had 11 rebounds and four assists. Justin Jasper '18 had 14 points, and Petrie added 13 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.

The Saints visit Episcopal Saturday at 4 pm.
