Golfer Brockwell '18 commits to Virginia Tech
He also considered Oklahoma and N.C. State.
Standout golfer Drew Brockwell '18 is off the board to Virginia Tech.
The sophomore took visits to a few schools but couldn't pass up being a Hokie.
"Their golf program and facilities they have will benefit me in the long run for playing golf," said Brockwell, who also considered Oklahoma and N.C. State.
Brockwell earned all-Prep League and all-state honors, helping the Saints win the state VISAA crown in 2015. He shot a 1-under 71 at the Manor Golf Club in Farmville at the state tourney, after shooting at 78 at the Federal Club as the Saints finished second in the Prep League.
Most recently, Brockwell shot a 2-under 142 at Independence Golf Club as the Saints took the High School Invitational in late August.
He's hoping for more success in 2016.
"We just need to play tough just like we did last year," Brockwell said. "The full team is returning so that will definiltey help."
