Cox '16 headed to Davidson

Star freestyle swimmer loves the fit academically and athletically.
Add Will Cox '16 to a long-growing list of college-bound Division I student-athletes from the Class of 2016.

Cox recently committed to Davidson to continue his swimming career. The strong freestyler joins Charlie Swanson '16 (Michigan) as the latest swimmer that is headed to the next level.

"When I went to Davidson, the people there were really cool," Cox said. "I connected with the coach. They've had a lot of success turning guys like me, who don't swim year round, into really competitive swimmers. That was really a selling point for me."

Cox was also a talented back and key player for the varsity soccer team. He's helped the Saints win Prep League and state championships on relays like the 200 medley.

Individual honors are great, but Cox hopes he can help lead the Saints to more team glory in his final season.

"This year we have five captains so we have a lot more leadership in the pool and in practice."

Cox also considered Cornell, Kenyon and Denison, among others.
