On Wednesday, October 21, the 7th-grade football team got its first win of the season, beating Norfolk Academy 16-12.

Quarterback Will Lehman continues to impress with a TD pass to Woods Beck in the 2nd quarter and a TD pass to Chaney Burnette in the 3rd quarter.

The Saints also went 2-for-2 on 2-point conversions. Lehman passed to Aiden Davis for the first 2-point conversion, and ran the other in himself.

The Saints' defense was relentless through the first 3 quarters, holding Norfolk to no scores before Norfolk blocked two punts to set up scores. The defense also stopped both of Norfolk’s 2-point conversions, helping seal the win.

Coach Stephen Lewis was very impressed with his team, saying: “I am very happy for the boys to get their first win in this fashion. We played the best defense we have played all year, especially up front. Our corners were up to the challenge of Norfolk's passing game. This win was well deserved."

The Saints get a rematch with Anna Julia Cooper on Wednesday, October 28 at 3:30 pm. The Lions beat the Saints 20-12 in their first game of the season September 30.
