Basketball season ends at Paul VI

Team finishes 23-5 for second straight season.
The varsity basketball team fell 69-55 in the VISAA state quarterfinals to Paul VI Wednesday, February 25.

The Saints gave valiant effort, being tied at 34 with Paul VI, ranked first in the United States by MaxPreps, and even leading by a point well into the third period. The Panthers forced some turnovers to push the lead to double digits in the fourth period and held the margin from there.

Brady Burnette '27 poured in 15 points, 12 in the first half, and hit three 3-pointers. Darius Gray '26 had 14 points and 14 rebounds, Damari Smith '29 dropped 14 points, and Elijah Brandon '26, a Randolph-Macon commit, scored 12 for the 8th seeded Saints.

StC finished 23-5 for the second season in a row for head coach Hamill Jones '00, the third most wins in school history.

Eight seniors depart from this terrific team. Next year's version will look different, but the cupboard is not bare with Burnette, Smith and 8th grader Elex Churchwell returning next season.
