The swimming & diving team continued its dominance, comfortably winning its sixth consecutive VISAA state title Saturday, February 14 at Swim RVA.

Ryan Smith '26 had his fingerprints all over the trophy with a school-record winning time in the 50-yard freestyle, a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly, and he helped with two relay wins.

One was another record setter on the 4x50 medley relay team with Matthew Matthews '27, Edward Johnson '26 and Ben Franks '27. The other was a 4x50 free win with Townsend Sexton '27 subbing for Matthews.

Johnson, a Bucknell signee, also had a strong meet, placing second in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke.

Franks was the state runner-up in the 200 free to go along with his two relay wins.

Over at St. Catherine's, Levi Jones '27 took third in the diving competition, rounding out a stellar, dominant campaign for coach Bucka Watson's group.

"Each swimmer on a team has one thing they can control - their own performance," Watson wrote to the swimming program's supporters. "The Saints controlled what they could, earning more personal best times than any other team at the meet. This didn’t happen by accident. This happened because we 'trained to expect.' This happened because each swimmer had a team-first mindset. This happened because of tremendous senior leadership that inspired their teammates to swim with the utmost confidence.

"THIS is how the coaches and I measure success in the pool."
