Moore '19 chooses UNC

Will join former Saint Drew Romig '16 in Chapel Hill.
St. Christopher's junior Samuel Moore '19 committed to play soccer at UNC-Chapel Hill recently.

Moore, a 6-2 defender for Richmond United in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, will join former United teammate and StC alum Drew Romig '16 at UNC. Romig is a keeper.

Moore had interest from several schools, including Lehigh, UNC Wilmington, High Point and Davidson, but "UNC has always been my top [school] since I was a little kid," Moore said.

"My mom went to UNC. I've grown up a big fan. When I went down there on my visit I really loved the coaches. I just really like the winning culture around there."

Though he's not allowed to play for StC, Moore has been around the Saints winning culture and appreciates the opportunity to still make connections with his classmates outside of the classroom.

"I've been really lucky to be around the St. Chris program a lot," Moore said. "[Varsity soccer coach] Mr. [Jay] Wood has been great including me. I love being able to support the team, but it's been tough not being able to play, but it's turning [out to be] worth it now."
