Swanson '16 continuing to shine on national stage

Will represent USA in 2015 FINA World Junior Championships in Singapore.
Along with racking up miles in the water this summer, Charlie Swanson '16 will have a pool-full of frequent-flyer miles when his senior season begins.

One of the top high-school swimmers in the nation, Swanson qualified for the 2015 FINA World Juniors in the 400-meter Individual Medley (4:21.35), placing 13th in the event at the Phillips 66 USA Nationals. He also earned another Olympic Trials qualifying time in the 200 breast, his third.

Swimming with NOVA Aquatics, Swanson helped his team smash two National Age Group (NAG) records. The 17-18 boys 800 relay went 7:25.78, earning third place and defeating powerful college teams like Stanford, Kentucky, Louisville and Michigan.

Swanson swam the breaststroke leg for the record-setting 400 medley team, posting a time of 3:44.11, another NAG record.

A week before the Phillips 66 Nationals, Swanson was with NOVA at the NCSA Junior Nationals in Indianapolis. After helping NOVA to a second-place finish in the tournament last summer, Swanson and his buddies won the 2015 championship. Individually, Swanson won the 200 IM (second Olympic Trials cut) and 400 IM. Both times were meet records - the 400 time was a drop of nearly six seconds.

Four of Swanson's relay teams also won titles.
