Seven football Saints named all-Prep

11/19/2013
Senior captains John Fiorelli and Ganon Hingst were named to the all-Prep League football team recently. Fiorelli led four Saints defensive picks, and Hingst headlined the three offensive picks.

DEFENSE
Fiorelli was picked as a linebacker after leading StC in tackles with 82 tackles, nine for a loss, a sack and an interception. It was Fiorelli's second honor.

Defensive back Garrett Taylor '15 earned his second nod after posting 47 tackles, third on the team, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a forced fumble. Taylor held talented receivers in check all season long.

Two lineman were picked in Ryland Ansell '14 and Carrington Lanier '15. Ansell led the team with five sacks in only eight games played. Lanier was a force in the middle, tying Ansell for team lead with 10.5 tackles in the backfield. He also had four sacks, two fumble recoveries and blocked a punt.

OFFENSE
Hingst had a phenomenal senior campaign, rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 TDs. He also had a reception TD. The 5-9, 188-pounder ran for a career-high 254 yards and school-record five TDs in the 42-14 win over Fork Union. It was his second all-Prep honor.

Receiver Fleet Wallace '15 was honored after 36 catches for 593 yards and seven scores in nine games. Wallace had 10 receptions for 207 yards and three scores (all career highs) in a win over Paul VI.

The second leading scorer on the team was kicker Thomas Cottrell '15. He was 10 for 12 on field goals (one miss was from 51 yards out) and 29 of 30 on extra points.
