Saints top Cougars in homecoming shutout

by Michael Hylton '18
The Saints varsity soccer team celebrated homecoming in style with a dominant 5–0 shutout victory over Collegiate on Tuesday afternoon.

Playing through a light drizzle, a goal by Miller Farley '18 in the 7th minute brought the Saints to an early lead. The first half concluded with a penalty kick by Garrett Levy '17 to give the Saints a 2–0 intermission lead.

A hard-fought match continued into the second half, but St. Chris separated themselves with goals by Ben Cooper '19, Alexander Levengood '19 and Warner Collier '20. It was the fourth consecutive shutout for keeper Jalen Maurice '17, his eighth such win this season.

Now 9–1–1 on the year, the Saints will next battle Cape Henry Collegiate on the road this Friday. The following Saturday, they return home for a 2:00 pm matinee with Virginia Episcopal.
