St. Christopher's Response to COVID-19

The St. Christopher's Campus is closed. Distance learning for all students is in effect through the end of the academic year.

St. Christopher's School leaders are closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19, a rapidly evolving health situation. St. Christopher's is following guidelines from the 
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virginia Department of Health. As new information about the outbreak and its potential impact on the school community becomes available, the School will send updates via email and post to this site.


There is a dedicated schoolwide email address that you may use for questions during this time of transition, This mailbox will be checked regularly, and the appropriate faculty or staff member will respond to you in a timely manner. 

Major Event Changes

In accordance with the Statewide JK-12 Closure mandate from VA Gov. Ralph Northam, all on-campus events through the end of the school year are either postponed or canceled. Please see below for detail on several specific events.

Senior Commencement
While we are saddened that we cannot hold our traditional Commencement exercises on Friday, May 22, we will celebrate the great Class of 2020 as soon as restrictions are lifted. In the meantime, we are working to find virtual ways to celebrate our boys. Learn more.

Alumni & Friends Debut Concert Postponed
The debut concert in the new Arts Center scheduled for April 24 is postponed. We are working with the performers to schedule a new date, likely for the fall, and will share that information as soon as it is finalized.

Reunion Weekend Postponed until October 23-24, 2020
Reunion Weekend, originally scheduled for May 1-2, is postponed to October 23-24, 2020. Once we finalize details for the rescheduled Reunion Weekend, we will share that information with you. 

Day of Giving Postponed
We will also be postponing our March 31 Day of Giving in honor of our faculty and staff. Look for a new date to be announced later this spring. We are excited to honor our outstanding and resilient faculty and staff at a later date. 

School-sponsored travel
School-sponsored travel, including Upper School X-Term and the Middle School trip to South Africa, have been canceled. Families impacted by these trip cancelations will receive detailed information later this week. 

Recommended Health Precautions

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
  • Cover your cough;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands;
  • Don’t share food or drinks;
  • Get adequate rest and maintain healthy lifestyles (e.g. proper nutrition, exercise) to help ensure health;
  • Avoid close contact, including handshakes and hugging; and
  • If you get sick, stay home and rest.
