Upper School credit courses are open to all students seeking summer enrichment opportunities. Summer grades will not be used in the calculation of a student's GPA; however, these courses will be recorded on the student's transcript.

  • Intro to Moral Philosophy Session I

    Rising 11th – 12th Graders

    In this online course, we will read and discuss the classic models for making moral decisions and examine contemporary ethical issues occurring in our society today. Included in our survey are Cultural Relativism, Natural Law, Divine Command, Egoism, Utilitarianism and Kantianism. Assessments will take a number of forms and will be completed online. This course is designed for students who are self-motivated and organized. The course counts as the required upper level religion course.

  • Geometry

    Rising 10th Graders

    This fast-paced course covers the core topics of Euclidean geometry and is designed for strong, motivated students. It meets the requirements of the St. Christopher’s mathematics department. **Prerequisite is Algebra I. Algebra II is suggested, but not mandatory. St. Christopher’s students must get approval from the Upper School Math Department Chairman to take this course.

  • Health 9

    Rising 9th – 12th Graders
    June 11 - 29, Final Exam is on Monday, July 2

    This course if for rising 9th - 12th graders, who will not take Health 9 during their 9th grade year. Summer Health 9 covers all of the information studied in the regular semester class. We will focus on physical components of human health by studying different body systems: Digestive, Endocrine, Reproductive, Nervous, Muscular, and Skeletal. Throughout the course we will look at what behaviors and choices will help students live longer, happier lives. Students will read and examine various sources and think critically about strategies for optimal health. Students will be in class from Monday June 11th through Friday June 29th, and take the final exam on Monday July 2.  There are no required texts for this course.

  • Health 10

    Rising 10th - 12th Graders
    June 11 - July 23, Final exam is due Wednesday, July 25
    Online (Class is held on campus 3:00 - 4:00 pm June 11 - 15)

    This online course is for rising 10th-12th graders who do not plan to take it during the upcoming school year.

    The class focuses on social, emotional, and behavioral habits that students can use to help live longer, happier lives. Topics include: School, Friends, Parents, Self-Image, Dating & Sex, and Addictions. The summer session of Health 10 covers all of the information studied in the regular semester class.  The two required textbooks for this course are, The 6 Most Important Decisions You'll Ever Make by Sean Covey and A Better High by Matt Bellace.

    All students will meet June 11 - 15 from 3:00-4:00 pm for an introduction and preparation for the online material. (Class meets in Athletic Center Classroom 101) From June 18 - 25 students will need reliable Internet connection for the duration of the class. Coursework will ask students to read, write, post messages, make videos, and work with classmates online. The final exam is due on Wednesday, July 25.

  • Biblical Studies

    Rising 10th - 11th Graders

    This course fulfills St. Christopher’s Biblical Studies requirement for 10th grade. All boys must take this course, as well as an upper level religion course in their junior or senior year, to complete their religion credit and graduate. Taking Biblical Studies over the summer will allow 10th graders some free time during the coming year. Using the gospel of Mark as a lens, this course critically examines the life of Christ.

    *The class will meet on campus June 18 - 22, and will include an online component from June 25 - July 6. During that time, students will not be meeting on campus but will be using the internet to engage consistently in the online course components. This class will meet on campus again for the final week, July 9 - 13.

  • If You Give a Mouse a Cookie… and More!

    Rising 1st – 2nd Graders

    What’s better than reading great books and stirring up yummy treats? This class will explore the world of “What If” through Laura Numeroff’s books If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give Moose a Muffin, If you Give a Pig a Pancake, and If you Give a Cat a Cupcake. Students will research facts about each animal, read, sequence events, and compare and contrast elements of the story. In addition, we’ll fine tune mathematical skills as we measure and mix-up cookies, cupcakes, pancakes, and muffins. Students will use what they’ve learned to create math story problems and write their own If You Give... story. Don’t miss out on the wonderful world of “What If”!
