Regular Season Ends With 2 Ties

by Mac Mueller '22
Varsity Soccer took on Collegiate last Tuesday at City Stadium for one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of its season. However, most fans from both teams went home unsatisfied as the game ended in a 0-0 tie. It was an impressive day defensively for the Saints who held the high-scoring Cougar offense scoreless. Rex Alphen ’23 supported the performance with a couple of nice saves at goalie.

The Saints followed the tie with another tie against Woodberry last Saturday on Senior Day. The Saints went down early after a quick Woodberry goal. Finally, in the 90th minute Willy Hall ’22 knocked in the lone goal for the Saints tying the game at 1-1.

These two games marked the end of the regular season for the Saints who finished with a record of 9-3-4. The Saints earned the #4 seed for the state tournament and will receive a first-round bye.

Their next game will be Monday, November 8th. They will play the winner of #12 Blue Ridge and #5 Bishop O’Connell in the state quarterfinals at 3 pm.
