Will Wise '22 earned All-State honors at the VISAA meet - and didn't score for St. Christopher's.

That about sums up the 2019 cross country team, a deep team full of talented runners that helped StC cruise to a third-straight VISAA title Thursday at Pole Green Park.

The five runners that did score and also earned all-state honors with Wise: Prep League champ Neal Dhar '20 (5th, 16:43), Ian Smith '20 (6th, 16:46.20), Sully Beck '20 (8th, 16:53.30), Hank Valentine '20 (10th, 17:00.80) and Johnny Whitlock '20 (15th, 17:09.80).

Wise placed 18th finishing in 17:12.50. Knight Bowles '21 and William Tune '20 were 23rd and 26th, respectively, as eight StC runners finished before second-place Collegiate's fifth and counting runner crossed the finish line.

"We knew going into the race that it was going to have to be a total team effort," cross country coach John Green said. "I think they realized that while they didn't have to run their best race personally, they had to race as a group. That's cross country. That's what wins the race."
