Two alumni golfers were in the news recently.

- Connor Johnson '18, who just wrapped up his freshman year at Virginia Tech, was named to the All-ACC Academic team, one of two Hokies to be named to the squad.

Johnson was third on the team in stroke average (73.33), posted three top 20 finishes and tied for the team's low round with a 6-under 66 at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Johnson is a business major. To make the academic team you must carry a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

2019 All-ACC Academic Team

- Ben Cooper '19 qualified for the U.S. Open Junior Amateur, which begins July 15 in Toledo, Ohio at Inverness Club. Cooper was the medalist at the Lake Chesdin Golf Club qualifier, shooting an even-par 72, taking one of the two available spots. JJ Powell '22 also competed in the tournament, and finished with a 4-over 76.

Former StC star and Virginia Tech golfer Drew Brockwell '18 competed in the 2018 Junior Amateur.
