Baseball, Lacrosse & Tennis on to State Semis

Baseball
The varsity baseball team dispatched of Flint Hill 5-2 Tuesday in the state VISAA quarterfinals.


The Saints, seeded second, will move on to Friday's semifinals at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights to face #3 Collegiate, a 4-1 winner over Episcopal.

StC led 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning and never relinquished the lead. Patrick Routsis '19 pitched five strong innings, giving up his only run in the top of the fifth inning. Jacob Carnley '22 pitched the final two innings to close things out.

Griff O'Ferrall '21 went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs, notching his 40th hit of the season. Curtis Hale '21 provided 2 RBI, Tate Gathright '19 and DayMone' Fleming '19 knocked in a run each.

Lacrosse
Will Tazewell '20 scored four goals and dished out five assists in varsity lacrosse's 17-6 win over Blue Ridge in the state VISAA quarterfinals Tuesday.

Seven players scored for StC, seeded first, as the Saints led the #8 Barons 11-2 at halftime and didn't look back.

Army commit Porter Lewis '20 and Mercer signee Davis Gillenwater '19 registered four goals, VMI pledge Hartley Jordan '19 had two, and Luke Valentine '19 (Sewanee), David Wallace '21 and Brooks Council '21 had one each.

The Saints will face #4 Paul VI, an 11-10 winner over Norfolk Academy, Friday at 4 pm at Randolph-Macon College in the semifinals.

Tennis
The varsity tennis team only needed singles to move on to the semifinals, dropping Cape Henry Collegiate 6-0 Tuesday.

The top-seeded Saints dropped only nine games combined in the six singles matches versus the No. 8 Dolphins.

Alaister Burke '20 and Talman Ramsey '21 both won 10-0. The Saints will face #4 Collegiate Friday at 4 pm at Collegiate's Goochland complex in the semifinals. The Saints won 5-4 in both matchups with the Cougars this season.
