Lacrosse downs Cougars, clinch #1 seed
Saints will host #9 Blue Ridge in state quarters May 14.
The varsity lacrosse team downed Collegiate 8-5 on Senior Day, moving to 18-0 on the year Thursday.
The Saints jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Cougars roared back to only trail 5-4 at halftime. From there, StC shut out its rival until the final seconds.
Six different players scored for the Saints, led by Davis Gillenwater '19 and Luke Valentine '19, who scored twice each. Porter Lewis '20, Jeff Moore '20, Will Tazewell '20 and Hartley Jordan '19 had the others.
The Saints will host Blue Ridge Tuesday, May 14 in the VISAA quarterfinals. The Barons, seeded ninth, topped Collegiate in Saturday's first-round matchup. The Saints are the No. 1 seed and beat Blue Ridge 12-4 back in March.
