Second grade boys, families, and teachers enjoy "River Night"

Boys and their families explore and celebrate the Nile, Yangtze and Amazon rivers.
This week second grade boys and their families enjoyed "River Night," an exploration and celebration of three rivers of discovery—the Nile (in Mrs. Buerlein's room), the Amazon (in Mrs. Smart's room), and the Yangtze (in Ms. Jones' room).

The boys researched, wrote papers, and created projects based on inquiry "I wonder?" questions. Their projects reflected their own interests and included BUILD projects, video game design, videos, Google Sites and Slideshows, 3-D printed projects, and more.

As part of their study of the three regions, the boys have learned about endangered animals that inhabit them. Families that attended the event each donated $1 that will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund to virtualy "adopt" an animal from each of the three rivers.

The boys and their families also enjoyed food from the three different areas of study.

This was truly a collaborative effort among our many talented teachers including Jess Richards, Gail Warren, Carey Pohanka, Laura Sabo and Laura Ambrogi. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!
