Mr. Judd previews Latin class to seventh grade boys

Word grouping activity gives boys a glimpse of what it's like to learn Latin
Eighth grade language teachers are visiting seventh grade boys to give them a glimpse of their classes. Last week Mr. Will Judd met with a group of boys and gave them a quick lesson, asking teams of three to order a set of fifteen words together into a sentence. Each group got the same fifteen words, but none came up with the same sentence. According to Mr. Judd, "the lesson with the words cut apart was to show the boys how the English syntax works. We make sense of English by putting words in a particular order whereas Latin depends on word endings."
