Lewis '20 picks Army

Junior attackman had 16 goals and five assists as a sophomore.
Lacrosse attackman Porter Lewis '20 ended his recruitment early, committing to Army during his freshman campaign. That hasn't stopped him from working on his game.

"I have to work every day. I can't take any days off," said Lewis, who also added that he played football and will wrestle this winter. "Just because I'm committed doesn't mean you can take any days off. You still have to work hard. No days off."

Lewis racked up 16 goals for the Saints in 2018, to go along with five assists, and returns with a loaded offensive lineup including Luke Valentine '19 (Sewanee), Hartley Jordan '19 (VMI), Davis Gillenwater '19 (Mercer) and Jack Westfall '19 (Sewanee). Lewis will possibly attend West Point Prep, under the recommendation of the coaching staff for further maturation physically, academically and overall, before matriculatiuung to the tough four-year school.

"I am extremely proud of Porter. His work in the classroom and on the lacrosse field have paid great dividends," Saints coach John Burke said. "Porter knows the challenges that West Point presents, and I know that he will continue to work hard to achieve his goals. I'm most excited in that we'll have Porter, who will continue to excel, for two more seasons to play along with a group of talented teammates."
