Bol Gai Deng, candidate for Sudanese Presidency, speaks in Upper School chapel

Deng escaped violence and slavery in Sudan as a child. In seeking the Presidency, he hopes to bring Sudan back to stability and prosperity.
This morning the Upper School chapel welcomed Bol Gai Deng, a candidate for President of Sudan. Mr. Deng's story is a hopeful reminder that one person can make a huge difference.

Mr. Deng talked to the boys about attacks on his Sudanese village when he was a boy, his life as a slave, his escape, and ultimately his refuge in Richmond. Even as he has built a great life here, Mr. Deng has set his sights on returning to Sudan to bring his homeland back to stability and prosperity.

Our thanks to Laura Lanois for bringing Mr. Deng to us and to Charlie Whitlock and the Global Ambassadors for helping him feel welcomed.
