Connor Johnson '18 finishes sixth in golf tourney; Fitch '17 scores first goal.
Johnson '18, Brockwell '18 in VT's lineup
Connor Johnson '18 shot a 10-under 206 in his latest golf tournament for Virginia Tech, leading the Hokies to a fifth-place finish out of 14 teams.
Johnson was par or better in all three rounds, and racked up six birdies in a 4-under 68 performance on the final day. He was only five strokes back of the medalist.
Drew Brockwell '18 shot a 219 and tied for 49th for the Hokies, as both Johnson and Brockwell have made big impacts in their freshman seasons. The Hokies will hit the links again Oct. 26-27 at the UNCG Grandover Classic in North Carolina, the final match of the fall season.
Simon Fitch has started every game for VCU this season, and scored his first collegiate goal in a 2-0 win over George Mason on Saturday, Oct. 20. The Rams play their final regular-season home game against St. Bonaventure Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Fitch transferred to VCU this year after being a starter at George Washington as a freshman.
