ALL-METRO RANKINGS

One of the most impressive seasons ever put together by a St. Christopher's track and field athlete resulted in an All-Metro Athlete of the Year award for Frank Royal '19.

Royal put up one of the top long jumps in the United States by a high schooler, going 24-4 1/4 at Penn Relays, the top U.S. performance. He topped that weeks later at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships, going 24-4 1/2. Only college athletes beat him as he finished fifth.

Royal also posted the top time in the area in the 100-meter dash (10.63) and fourth best in the 200 (21.74).

The Saints were well represented behind Royal as well. Do-it-all Elby Omohundro '19 entered the All-Metro rankings in two events - triple jump (46-3, third) and high jump (6-3, eighth),

Harrison Rice '18 was the top pole vaulter in the area, going 16-3, a school record. Ian Smith '20 was ranked second in the 800 (1:55.76), and the VISAA champion 4x800 team of Vaden Padgett '20, Christian Johnson '21, Hank Valentine '20 and Smith had the area's seventh best time at 8:15.28.
