Final chapel service held in the Middle School auditorium

The fifty-plus year old auditorium will be converted into classroom space over the next year.
Friday, June 1 marked the end of an era at StC. The Middle School auditorium, which was added to our campus in the 1950s, will be converted into classroom space over the next year as a part of a capital project that will result in the construction of a new recital hall. On that day, the Middle School held its final chapel service in that space. Chaplain Durk Steed reminded the faculty and student body of the many important events that took place in the auditorium over the years, including talks from a Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss, veterans of WWII, Vietnam and the Afghanistan wars, and the first signing of the Honor Code by thousands of StC students. Students, faculty and staff performed two songs and the Middle School faculty took a turn at the Dia de los Muertos dance, an annual tradition performed by sixth grade Spanish students. Special thanks goes to the three generations of the Boyd family who participated in the service, including retired faculty member Jim Boyd '54, McGuire Boyd '60, Leo Boyd '88, Jamie Boyd '22, and McGuire Boyd '24.
