It took a record effort to knock varsity golf to second place in the state VISAA golf tournament Monday at Meadowbrook Country Club.

Woodberry Forest shot a 293, the best mark of any team in tournament history, giving the Saints a taste of their own medicine. StC shot 285 for 3-under to win the Prep League over the Tigers last week. At Meadowbrook the group mustered a strong 297, but it wasn't enough.

The terrific trio of seniors, Virginia Tech commits Drew Brockwell and Connor Johnson, and VCU pledge Clifford Foster, all finished in the top 10 for all-state honors. Next season the team will lean on newly-minted captains Ben Cooper '19 and Alex Brown '19, and rising sophomore Taylor Jefferson '21.
