Keynote Speaker Mona Siddiqui

Mona Hafeez Siddiqui was born in Lahore, Pakistan and immigrated to Richmond with her family when she was four years old. She grew up in Chesterfield County and completed her college degree at the University of Virginia majoring in Foreign Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies. She received her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and is now working as an Assistant Attorney General at the Virginia Office of the Attorney General in the Division of Human Rights. She is also a Ph.D. Candidate of Public Policy and Administration at the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Her academic research interests include Constitutional Law and social equity in the areas of migration, nationality, race, religion and gender. She lives in Midlothian with her family, and is actively involved in her local community.  She serves on the Virginia Governor's Commission for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Virginia Asian Advisory Board advising the Governor on policy issues in these areas. She also serves on local non-profit Boards, including the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and Virginia Poverty Law Center. She volunteers with several Richmond Muslim organizations, and is an advocate for legal issues related to discrimination and civil rights violations.
