Basketball season ends at Episcopal
Saints fall 63-45 in first round of state VISAA tourney.
The varsity basketball team lost 63-45 to No. 6 seed Episcopal Tuesday night in the first round of the state VISAA tournament.
StC (15-13) pulled within four points late in the second period, but the Maroon stretched the lead to nine going into the break and kept that margin throughout the second half.
Gibson Jimerson '19 and Justin Jasper '18, the Saints' two all-Prep League picks, each scored 11 points. Arnold Henderson '19 hit two 3-pointers for the Saints. It was the eighth straight state tourney bid for StC.
The Saints will lose important, lynchpin seniors in captains Jasper and Jack Pendlebury '18, Donovan Murphy '18 and Will Roberts '18 heading into next season.
Jimerson '19 will lead seven returnees in 2018-19, along with a crop of players set to graduate from an unbeaten JV outfit.
