Basketball places third in Tri-City Holiday Classic
Jimerson '19 makes his second all-tournament team.
The varsity basketball team went 2-1 over the holiday break, finishing third in a tough Tri-City Holiday Classic at Hopewell High School.
The Saints downed Petersburg Friday by a score of 55-43, paced by 19 points from Gibson Jimerson '19, and 11 from Justin Jasper '18 to secure third place. The defensive effort was the best of the season for StC.
The Saints fell in the semifinals Thursday to host Hopewell 76-66. StC led by 13 points in the first half, but the Blue Devils took the lead for good going into the fourth period up 56-53. Jimerson led the Saints with 31 points, and Donovan Murphy '18 had 13.
The the opening-round win over TPLS Christian Academy, Jimerson poured in a game-high 29 points, and Arnold Henderson '19 put in 16 points.
The Saints will return to action Wednesday, Jan. 3 to host Walsingham Academy at 6 pm.
