Saints Crushed on the Road

The varsity football team was beaten by the Landon School 42-0 in Bethesda, MD on Thursday. The Bears scored on their opening drive on a 7-yard run by quarterback John Geppert. Geppert also threw for a touchdown on a 40-yard strike to sophomore wide receiver Tyler Smith.

The Bears rushing attack was strong all day, amounting 315 yards on 43 carries. Bryce Baylor led Landon with 85 yards on the ground, and Joey Epstein rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns. By contrast, the Saints' typically strong rushing attack only netted one yard rushing on 21 carries against a large and talented Bears defensive line.

Pat Routsis '19 went 12-24 for 118 yards. Will Hayes '19 caught two passes for 46 yards, and Will Forrest '18 caught two passes of his own for 24 yards. Senior running back Jens Ames caught 3 passes for 16 yards, and added 4 yards on the ground. Defensively, Charlie Boggs '19 led the team with 11 tackles and a sack. Daymone Fleming '19 had 10 tackles.

The Saints will look to rebound next Friday, October 6 at Fork Union Military Academy at 3:30 PM. Those who can't make it to the game can watch Fork Union's stream on thecube.com.
