Varsity Football Falls to Woodberry

The varsity football team lost 49-28 to Woodberry Forest on Saturday. The Tigers (2-1) dominated in the first half, scoring six touchdowns to take a 42-0 lead. The Saints were able to stage a comeback in the third quarter that was sparked by two touchdown catches by Wiil Hayes '19, one from 61 yards and another from 79 yards.

Quarterback Pat Routsis '19 then proceeded to throw for another touchdown, this time on a 25-yard strike to Will Forrest '18. Routsis then used his legs to put up another touchdown on a 4-yard run late in the 4th quarter. The comeback was stifled when Jameel Wilson scored on a 40-yard rush to put Woodberry up by 21.

Washington and Lee commit Jens Ames '18 led the Saints in rushing with 72 yards on only 7 touches. Hayes finished the game with 5 catches for 190 yards an two touchdowns. Routsis had career highs with 255 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Charlie Boggs '19 led the defense with 7 tackles and a sack. RJ Wilkinson '18 had two sacks and William Tappen '18 added another for a St. Chris defense that held Woodberry to 7 points in the second half.

The Saints fell to 2-1 and will face Norfolk Academy at home on Saturday.
