Sophomore Year

The sophomore year is an important year of maturity and growth for most St. Christopher’s students. With rare exceptions, by the end of the sophomore year most boys are the students they will be for the rest of high school.
  • Get the most out of your classes and continue becoming the best student you can be. Focus on learning rather than grades.
  • Become involved in several extracurricular activities that have meaning for you. Quality of involvement is more important than quantity.
  • Take the PSAT in October.
  • Attend the Richmond Independent Schools College Fair in April to acclimate yourself to the format so you can get the most out of the program as a junior. Even if you just walk around and gather a few brochures, you will improve your ability to start thinking about college more seriously.
  • If you are ready, consider visiting several colleges during the summer after your sophomore year. Focus on visiting different types of colleges—large/small/medium, urban/rural, close to home/in a different part of the country.
