Fitch '17 to George Washington

Soccer star also considered VCU, Notre Dame and Lehigh.
Soccer standout Simon Fitch '17 is headed to George Washington. The midfielder committed to the Colonials April 8.

"It's a good academic school. They won the [Atlantic 10] regular-season [title] last year," Fitch said of his decision to choose the Colonials. "I know some guys that are going there that I've played against in the past that I really like, and that I know that are good players. So I figured we'd have potential for a bright future."

Fitch also considered Notre Dame, Lehigh and VCU. He stars with Richmond United, a team of standouts that team up on the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. His commitment to the program makes him unavailable for soccer at St. Chris.

"It's definitely tough. Obviously I want to play with the guys at school," Fitch said. "But it's very beneficial, and it's the top league in the country. We're actually doing very well this year. ... Hopefully we can make the playoffs."
