Wrestling stars will help start H-SC's program in 2015.
Hampden-Sydney's inaugural wrestling program is getting a boost from two of St. Christopher's wrestling stars.
State champions Carrington Lanier '15 and Tyler Anthony '14 are headed to Farmville to join the Tigers.
Lanier, an all-Prep League, two-time state champion wrestler and a National Preps All-American, dominated at 195 pounds and looks forward to more growth with the Tigers.
"I wasn't sure about where I was going to continue to wrestle," said Lanier. "I think Hampden-Sydney is the best fit as a school. I'm definitely still growing as a wrestler and an athlete."
He'll be joined by a familiar face in Anthony. He spent this past year in school at J. Sargeant Reynolds while figuring out his next move, and the opportunity at H-SC was too much to pass up.
Anthony was a two-time state champ as a heavyweight, All-Metro and All-Prep.
