Monday, June 1, Walker Wallace '20 was the named the boys scholar-athlete of the year by the Richmond Times-Dispatch and SportsBackers.
Wallace is the fourth Saint to capture the honor, joining Pope Hackney '97, Clarke Gottwald '08 and Noah O'Neill '16. Wallace's brother Fleet was runner-up for the award in 2015.
Walker Wallace is the finest scholar-athlete academic dean Jim Jump has seen in his 30 years at StC. He carried a 4.6 GPA (tied for tops in his class) while playing a sport at a high level in each of his 12 upper school seasons.
Walker was a three-sport captain as a senior, and won the Davenport Award, the school's top athletic honor. He earned all-state honors as a receiver in football (52 receptions, 533 yards, 8 TDs) after changing from a quarterback at the JV level. He was a three-year starter on the varsity basketball team, earning All-Prep honors after averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds.
His top sport, however, is lacrosse, where Walker was an All-American goalkeeper. He has signed with Cornell.
Walker was a student council senior member, a Saints for Social Justice Executive and was also a part of 100 for 100, FOCUS and Middle School Mentors.
