Lower School Holds "Blessing of the Animals" Service

StC Lower School participates in the blessing of pets and school animals.
From dogs and cats to snakes and lizards, all were welcome at St. Christopher’s School this morning.

This morning, parents, faculty and students brought pets of all kinds to participate in the Blessing of the Animals at Lower School Chapel. “It’s a part of our celebration of the Feast of St. Francis,” said the Rev. Joseph Torrence. “He cared about all of God’s creation, in particular animals, and so we do this service to remember that and to celebrate how we’re supposed to care for creation.”

After a short opening service, Rev. Torrence took turns blessing an assortment of StC pets and animals, including Bubbles, a snake that lives in a fourth-grade classroom. “I think all animals should be blessed, and I think all animals should live long lives because I love animals,” said Witt Wood ‘27.
