Dhykwon Smith '19 will continue his football career at Christopher Newport.
The All-Prep, All-State defensive end led the Saints with 6.5 sacks in 2018, and racked up 10.5 tackles for loss. He's excited about the next step in his football journey.
"They were the first college to recruit me. They stuck with me during the season and after the season and stayed in contact," Smith said. "And then the academics are pretty good as well, so that's why I chose CNU."
StC football coach Lance Clelland believes it is a great fit for Smith.
"Dhykwon is a great example of what hard work can earn a young man," Clelland said. "It has been awesome seeing Dhykwon transform himself into a college football player through his consistent effort in the weight room.
"CNU is getting a young guy who will give his best in everything he does and I could not be more proud of Dhykwon."
