Wallace '20 chooses Cornell

Keeper will follow in footsteps of brother Fleet '15.
Lacrosse keeper Walker Wallace '20 ended his recruitment recently, committing to the Cornell Big Red. Walker's brother Fleet '15 is a starting defensive middie and captain for Cornell this season, his senior campaign.

"I am thrilled for Walker," Saints lacrosse coach John Burke said. "He's worked extremely hard, and Cornell is lucky to have him. We're looking forward to having him lead our defense next spring."

Wallace, at 6-5, is an imposing presence in the goal and shared time with Michael Chapman '17 between the pipes in 2018. Now a captain as a junior, it's his turn to lead the charge.

"We've got a strong offense coming back, but we've got some younger guys who are going to need to step up on defense, but I think we'll be up to the task," Walker said. "Coach [Sherman] Horner always has us ready to go, so we should be good."

Walker also excels in football and basketball for the Saints.

"He's such an important part of our athletic program and overall community here at St. Christopher's," Burke said, "as he's one of only a few three-sport athletes. He is a true student-athlete and we are fortunate to have him."

Wallace is the sixth current StC lacrosse player committed to play at the next level, joining Hartley Jordan '19 (VMI), Davis Gillenwater '19 (Mercer), Luke Valentine '19 (Sewanee), Jack Westfall '19 (Sewanee) and Porter Lewis '20 (West Point Prep).
