JJV soccer downs Collegiate

by Ivey Chaney '19
Wednesday, the Junior JV soccer team defeated Collegiate 2-1.

Offense:
In the first half, St. Chris had some difficulties. They weren't able to attempt shots often, and only passed the ball around. There also weren't many offensive people downfield which made it harder to maintain ball control. However, in the second half, it was a whole different story. St. Chris was able to get multiple guys on both sides of the field and was able to pick up two scores as well, both from Davis Gillenwater '19. Gillenwater kicked an incredible goal at the end from the corner which bounced off the post and went in causing a massive celebration from St. Christopher's bench.

Defense:
Once again, the St. Chris defense put up a tough fight. Whenever the ball was kicked downfield, the defense prevailed, pushing the ball back to midfield then forcing them to turn the ball over. The goalie, Alston Hackney, made 16 saves throughout both halves, including one great game-winning save. The defense has had it's problems, but Wednesday, you couldn't tell.
