7-point third period hurts hoops

ALEXANDRIA - The varsity basketball team lost a battle of two of the top four teams in the state, falling to No. 3 Episcopal 72-56 Saturday afternoon at EHS.

No. 4 StC (18-4) struggled offensively in the third period, scoring seven points, while the Maroon (16-3) stretched a 3-point halftime lead to 17.

Alexander Petrie '17 led the Saints with 25 points, and Nick Sherod '16 had 19.

StC returns home Tuesday at 6 pm hosting Christchurch in a Prep League battle.
