Baseball historian Mayer in high demand

Associate Director of College Counseling speaks at Tredegar, and on Tuckahoe Little League.
The past week has been a busy one for Scott Mayer.

The Associate Director of College Counseling is not only one of the best at helping St. Christopher's students find the right college or university, but is also a baseball historian and the co-author of Baseball and Richmond: A History of the Professional Game 1883-2000.

Wednesday, July 29, Mayer spoke on Richmond, Reconstruction & Baseball at The Tredegar Society's latest event. Presale tickets sold fast, and it was one of the society's most populated events.

A day later, Mayer was interviewed by Henrico's Community TV Channel about the history of baseball and the Tuckahoe Little League. The documentary will air sometime in the fall.

"Richmond has a long rich history with the professional game of baseball," Mayer said. "It's been really exciting to share what I've learned with various audiences."

Mayer also was interviewed on HistoryReplaysToday.org last summer. That podcast can be found HERE.
