Soccer No. 1 seed in state tournament

Big 2-0 victory over Woodberry clinched top seed and Prep League title.
The varsity soccer team halted Woodberry Forest 2-0 in thrilling fashion Friday, giving the Saints the Prep League title and the overall No. 1 seed in the upcoming state VISAA tournament.

The tourney begins Friday with first-round play. The Saints and the other three top-four seeds (#2 WFS, #3 Collegiate, #4 Paul VI) will all have byes and await the first-round winners.

StC will face the #8 Potomac-#9 Cape Henry Collegiate winner Monday, November 3 at home in quarterfinal action. The Saints have not faced either team this season.

In the victory over the Tigers, Collegiate hero Noah O'Neill '16 scored in the first half, and Logan Ende '15 put the nail in the coffin in the 82nd minute with his goal that sent Saints fans into an eruption.

Carter Clements '15 came up big with six saves to help keep the Tigers off the board. The Saints posted their 15th shutout of the season.
