Coach Wood wins 300th game

Saints beat TES 3-0 to help reach milestone.
Coach Jay Wood earned his 300th career victory as the varsity soccer team defeated Trinity Episcopal 3-0 Tuesday afternoon.

The Saints moved to 14-0-1 on the season and posted yet another shutout. Wood earned the mark in his 24th season at StC. His first year as head coach was 1991.

"Congratulations on a great milestone," Wood's former high school coach, Miller Bugliari said. "It couldn't happen to a better coach and greater person.

"I have great memories of Jay playing for me. One of the best competitors we've ever had at Pingry, and clearly one of best coaches we've ever produced as well!

"Best wishes for 300 more, Jay!"

StC got on the board in the first minute. A corner from Logan Ende '15 bounced around and found the foot of Ben Moore '15.

The score remained 1-0 though StC dominated play, until Garrett Levy '17 gave Jack Trunick '16 a gorgeous through ball that Trunick deposited for a 2-0 advantage.

Then Levy got back into the action with nifty handling and a pass to John Fergusson, who touched it over to Hunter Reinhart '16 for the final tally.

The Saints have a week-long break before heading to Fork Union next Tuesday for a 4 pm kick.
