Wrestling - 15th consecutive Prep League crown

Saints win nine weight classes.
The unprecedented record continues.

The varsity wrestling team won the school's 15th straight Prep League title at Norfolk Academy Saturday.

StC had nine wrestlers win weight classes: Connor Alexander '19 (113), Joey Prata '16 (120), Gray Hart '18 (126), Bo Williamson '17 (138), Kameron Miller '16 (152), Tanner Hood '17 (160), Pope Whitley '16 (182), Jens Ames '18 (195) and John McCauley '16 (220).

William Tappen '18 (170) placed second and James Armstrong '17 (145) was third.

"Our kids competed hard," coach Ross Gitomer said. "There were some big wins, specifically from Bo Williamson and Kameron Miller.

"John McCauley, Pope Whitley, Kameron Miller and Joey Prata going out their senior year with individual titles and a team prep title makes me really happy for them. We still have work to do, and there are areas we need to clean up technically."

Wrestling topped Peninsula Catholic Friday 69-12 before winning Preps.

The boys travel up to Blair Academy Saturday, Feb. 13 for a tough matchup before the state VISAA tournament next weekend.
