Missionary Society Raises Over $800 for Haiti

The St. Christopher's Missionary Society and the student leaders of Thomas Jefferson High School held a fundraiser for Haiti during the football scrimmage this past Saturday, August 21. The students sold concessions and hand made arts and crafts from St. Joseph's Orphanage in Haiti and raised over $800. The boys from St. Joseph's Orphanage are going to visit the Upper School chapel in September. The student leaders of both schools plan to present them with a check from the monies raised. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Saints and enjoyed some great football!

Saints in Service: Come Support the Saints and Help Haiti

The St. Christopher's Missionary Society and the student leaders of Thomas Jefferson High School will be holding a fundraiser for Haiti during the football scrimmage this Saturday, August 21. Six football teams from across the region will be playing, with the action kicking off at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson High School. The students will be selling concessions and hand made arts and crafts from St. Joseph's Orphanage in Haiti. The boys from St. Joseph's Orphanage are going to be visiting the Upper School chapel in September. The student leaders of both schools plan to present them with a check from the monies raised. Come out and support the Saints and enjoy some great food!



St. Chris hosts Chinese Soccer Delegation

On Friday, July 16, St. Christopher’s hosted a delegation of visitors from China. Working with the Richmond Strikers organization and VCU’s Center for Sports Leadership, the school was able to share a bit of what an American independent school is all about through a lunch with St. Christopher's & St. Catherine’s students and tour of the campus.

 Lower School Librarian Lucinda Whitehurst was chosen to serve on the 15-member national committee that will select the 2010 winner of the prestigious Caldecott Medal. Lucinda is featured on the cover of Friday's Richmond Times-Dispatch Metro section. 

The steadily rising career of a Richmond-raised classical music composer hit a new peak last month when the Chicago Symphony Orchestra appointed him a composer-in-residence.
